Strategies for Success
Background:
Strategies for Success focuses on Executive Functioning Skills and how they relate to in-class behavior and studying. This class will be targeted primarily towards students with an SLD or ADHD-like profile minor externalizing behaviors. We will focus on study habits, organization skills, executive functioning skills, and will have structured time to work on assignments for their other classes. We will be using a research-based executive functioning curriculum, and will also receive integrated Social Emotional Learning as a part of their instruction.
Executive Functioning Skill Development
Throughout the school year, we will be learning about the different executive functioning skills, figure out skill areas that need improvement, work to improve performance in those skill areas, as well as learn how each of these skills can affect performance in and out of the classroom.
Prosocial Skill Development and SEL
In addition to Executive Functioning skills, we will also be working on academic social skill development and social emotional learning. This can help to increase the likelihood of success for each student as they navigate the social landscape of their lives in and out of school, appropriately handling frustrations as they come.
